I’m a big believer in the benefits of attending a summer music camp--it’s a great place to immerse yourself in music learning with other highly motivated musicians. In addition, you can have a great time meeting new friends, enjoying the great outdoors and other activities depending on the camp. Here are some camps I recommend that I have either been part of or sent students to in the past:

Summer Music in the City at San Jose State University - held on the campus of SJSU for either commuters or residents (in their great new dorms!) I’ll be doing a masterclass at the camp for the saxophonists

Hayward-La Honda Music Camp - held in the redwoods at Camp Jones Gulch on the San Francisco penisula. I occassionally do masterclasses for them and handle their website.

Summer Music at Stanislaus - held on the campus of CSU Stanislaus. I used to run this camp, but am no longer associated with it.

Cazadero - held in the redwoods near the Russian River.

Silver Lake Band Camp - In the Sierras south of Lake Tahoe

For my students, let me know if you have any questions about these camps.
